Little Man attempts washing his hair in the tub

So on Friday when Little Man was in the tub, I had a thought.

I can't recall if I've previously mentioned that he has sensory issues with water on his head and face or not, but it's always been an issue. When he was younger, he reacted to it anywhere on his body but as he's gotten a bit older, the longest hold-out has been his face and his head.

Earlier in the summer, I was able to get him to put his face in the water in a friend's pool and to get his hair wet (very reluctantly).

Whereas bathing was still an issue. He *HATES* the shower, even on it's lowest setting and with him able to direct the nozzle where he wants to. Even if it's just washing his own body.

Anyway, I suggested that he try washing his hair in the tub, since he doesn't like it when we do it.

He did it... not the world's best job, but he did it. Though he wanted me beside him because he was "scared" and I had to squeeze the shampoo into his hand.

Little Man did need help with rinsing -- but, all in all, I am VERY proud of him :>

The Tale of the Holiday Rice Krispies

So my ex gave Little Man some Holiday Rice Krispies on the wkend and Little Man's never had them before...

*warning this is gross but also kind of funny*

So, earlier this morning, Little Man is going to the bathroom before school and he starts yelling, "Mom, Mom come upstairs! You have to look at my poop!"

I replied that I really didn't want to.

Then I asked why he wanted me to look at it.

Little Man said, "Because it's really green and weird."

So I went up and I looked.

It was like looking in a mine shaft where you could see the veins of metal glittering in the rock except that this was a relatively normal looking bowel movement EXCEPT for the "vein" of bright green rice krispie pieces.

I needed to share my pain for having to look at that.

Little man is picking up the lingo...

Well, as most people who know myself and my family IRL are aware... we are not shy about warning people away from the washroom if someone has been "sitting down" in there for awhile.

The way we usually phrase it (with close friends and family) has now been echoed by Little Man.

A few days ago, he came downstairs, shaking his head and said, "Don't go upstairs! I destroyed the bathroom."

So I explained to him that while we talk like that at home, it's not how we talk when we are out or around people we don't know well.

Still - we were amused!
