Little Man and I have been up since 2 a.m.
Once I gave up on trying to get him to go back to sleep, he's been fine... jsut totally, fucking wide awake...
*sigh*
At first he was insistant on playing with the phone that's not plugged in, that's in the bedroom.
He kept pushing 884.
*shrug*
everything has hidden meaning when you're f*cking tired

Current mood: amused
Little Man's latest accomplishment
I tried to "trap" him in the living room while I made a grilled cheese sandwich. He was watching "Sesame Street" and usually that gives me enough time to cook something quick like that.
However, our living room doorway is too wide for a gate so we have instead strategically placed furniture and his playpen to block it off (and he hates being in the playpen, so that's why I didn't dunk him in there).
Well, my lil climber got onto the couch and instead of sitting and watching Elmo, decided he wanted to be in the kitchen so he climbed over the low arm of the couch, holding the playpen for balance and then laughed proudly once he'd "escaped"
oh my!

Current mood: anxious
sometimes being a Mommy sets off my anxiety disorder worse than anything else
Little Man was pretty fussy all day, he kept jamming both hands into his mouth today and often then caused himself to gag.
He wasn't into eating solids so he got a lot of boob today.
He fell asleep around 7 p.m. (he didn't nap today either) and was sleeping but not deeply till about 10 p.m. at about 10:30 p.m. he woke up and then started making his sleepytalk and closed his eyes again so, back on the boob he went and now he's asleep in his crib.
His eyes were clear though and he wasn't doing the hands in mouth thing past this afternoon. I've been watching him because he's been so clumsy the past few days. He tries to run faster than he actually can and he trips. And he's a menace as he also mastered Mom's couch yesterday but he couldn't get up on it every time he tried because of the extra height of it.
He gave himself a good crack on Mom's coffeetable today and a slight one on ours tonight while in pursuit of Fetish. No apparent bumps or bruises though... but it scares the hell outta me every time he falls, or trips, or bangs himself, or bites things like the table because I am terrified that he's gonna hurt himself and my heart just stops sometimes.
I don't know why he is always trying to bite coffetables. Or why he's so clumsy (though Mom says it's because he wants to get ahead of himself) and I seriously am at a loss as to how kids survive childhood when they do stuff like this.
I'm constantly afraid he's going to concuss himself. I've had concussions. They aren't fun.
Mom says that it's different when you're small because your bones aren't as hard as they are when you're older and so that's why my wee man seems so impossibly sturdy compared to old folks like me.
Being a parent is scary stuff sometimes.
Oh, and to reassure me more :| Mom said that with boys, it only gets worse and scarier...
thanks Mom :(
g'night
EDITED 2:04 a.m.
Torin woke up about a half an hour after I posted this when Jay came home.
I just put Torin in the crib now, that he's asleep and, unfortunately, I feel very awake BUT I am going to lie down and try to relax my body enough so that I will feel rested even if I am unable to actually fall asleep.
So please, refrain from calling in the morning :>
Thanks :>

Current mood: bouncy
Current music: something on EdgeTV in the other room
Little Man's BDAY weekend begins
Today:
The pop in, see Little Man and have some cake celebration with our friends and my side of the family
Tomorrow: The go over to DS's mom's, have cake and Little Man celebrations for DS's side of the family.
It's amazing to me to realize that one year ago today, at 2:15 p.m. I went into labour. D. was here, as was my half-sister and we called DS at work, got over to S-n-J's place and headed for the hospital for one of the craziest experiences of my life.
I am so grateful that I survived it and that I have had one amazing year (as of 3:18 a.m. on the 13th) with my beautiful, brilliant son!!!

quick update
Little Man had a fall today... scared the bejesus outta me... but he's fine.
Today my niece, T. may be coming over, and my half-sister is coming over.
I have a migraine and am sleep-dep'd
BTW, Little Man can walk and has been able to for a wk as of today. Not a lot though, but completely unsupported sequences of steps ranging so far from 2 - 8 :>:>:>

My kiddo likes TV
@ 2003-04-26 09:59:00
Current mood: entertained
talking to Mom H.
she says that Little Man was a darling for her and she also wanted to tell me that it seems he is a fan of LHOTP.
Mom said it was the episode where Jack dies and they get Bandit... and she said Little Man was riveted to the entire ep the same way he is when commercials are on.
LOL!
His father's gonna hate that ;>

Little Man' progress.
· Feb 1st - lower right central incisor broke through gums
· Feb 14th - started saying Mama specifically to me and me only and has continued in the usage (still saying Dada but to many ppl/things)
· Feb 19th - lower left central incisor broke through gums
· March 21st - Little Man repeatedly getting into sitting position without any assistance, attempt at pulling self up with coffee table but only getting up far enough to try to bite it.
· March 22nd - top left central incisor broke through gums
· March 24th - Little Man pulled self to stand at coffee table all day and began "travelling"
· March 25th - top right central incisor broke through gums
· April 14th - Little Man mastered getting down from holding on to furniture w/o falling
Food issues
· Carrots still not being digested... they come out looking slightly "pureed" but still close to as if I dumped the jar in the diaper
· Apple/Cherry juice - mixed with 1/2 water, creates rash around mouth almost instantly (similar to "teething rash")
· Heinz Oatmeal cereal - both eyes swollen and red and "gummy" with the phelgm-like stuff
Other issues
That eye is still very gummy rather often.
He is very gassy.
His BMs are usually still rather loose and range from really yellow to a dark brownish-green depending on what he eats (if he's getting blueberries for fruit that day or the day before it's darker, if it's apricots, it's way lighter).
He seems to REALLY suffer re: teething
When the weather changes, he gets cranky and/or listless (as do I)

DR appt
@ 2003-04-15 13:10:00
not much growth since his last appt
so they possibly measured wrong last time (re: height)
Weight: 21 lbs (in the 75th percentile for his age)
Height: 29 inches (in the 75th percentile for his age)
Head Circumference: 45 cm (in the 50th percentile for his age)
DR is very pleased with Little Man's development and thinks he is advanced for his age.
At the DR's office, Little Man met a 1-month-old and a 3-year-old and was fascinated by both :>:>:>

Proud Mommy alert

Time for an update
Proud Mommy alert
March 21st - age: 35 wks, 6 days
event: repeatedly got into a sitting position from laying down on the floor, without any assistance from ppl or objects. I'd never caught him doing this before although he was sitting up on the 20th and neither Mom H. or I had seen him do it and hadn't placed him in that position (well, Mom couldn't remember if she'd sat him up or not)
STILL March 21st - event: once doing the sitting up thing repeatedly during the morning, he began grabbing Mom's (Yvette's) coffee table and pulling himself up, but not to a complete stand... only pulling himself high enough to then proceed to bite and attempt to chew on the edge of said table.
March 22nd - age: 36 wks
event: one of this top teeth was visible through his gums (this is tooth #3 for Little Man)
march 24th - age: 36 wks, 2 days
event: He pulled self to a stand, multiple times, from a sitting position at Mom H's using her coffee table
march 25th - age: 36 wks, 3 days
event: another tooth up top became visible through his gums (tooth #4)
event #2: He began to "travel" by holding on to the table and then walking around it
I think this is pretty good for a wee man who will be 9 months old on April 13th. (which is odd when you consider that 36 wks makes 9 months)

He called me "Mama!"
@ 2003-02-14 18:18:00
Current mood: ecstatic
HE CALLED ME "MAMA"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, over a wk ago, Little Man said, "Mama" 2x while taking a break from chewing on my arm, but he hadn't said it since and I didn't think it counted as he didn't seem to actually be using it in reference to me.
BUT!!!!!!!!!!
Today, he has been doing a lot of sounds, Mama, Ga-ga, Dada etc... well, my half-sister was holding him and he began to say, "Mu, Mu, Mu, Ma, Ma, MMMMMMMMMMMM, MAMA, Mama!" and he sorta lunged away from her arms and reached for me at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!
And he just did it again while I was posting this!!!!!!!!!!

what Little Man eats
boob first thing in the morning (6:30). 2 to 3 hrs later, 3 tablespoons of rice cereal mixed with breast-milk and depending on weather 1.5 - 3 tablespoons of fruits followed about 15 mins later by more boob. (if it's cold, he always wants to eat more than if it is mild out)
about 2 to 3 hrs later, 3 tablespoons of rice cereal mixed with breast-milk and 2 - 3 tablespoons of veggies followed about 15 mins later by more boob. Though if he still acts like he wants more solids I'll give him one tablespoon of fruit if he hasn't pooped in a day or of veggie if he has. Then, if he acts thirsty, he gets boob immediately elsewise I wait 15 mins to a half hour as he's very good at letting me know if he's hungry.
About 3.5 hrs after this he gets 3 tablespoons of rice cereal mixed with breast-milk and 2 tablespoons of veggies followed about 15 mins later by more boob.
About 3 hrs after this he may get 2 table spoons of rice cereal mixed with breast-milk if he seems unsatisfied by boob. And then I feed on demand until bedtime via boob.
The timeframes are based on the sked that Little Man has set for himself.. if he gives me his hunger cues earlier or later, I feed him when I see the cues.
